SFST
The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division oversees the New Mexico Law Enforcement Training Program, which includes the Standardized Field Sobriety Test Training. SWTC will manage and facilitate the program which includes:
SFST – Train the Trainer
This is a week long course designed to give the officer a comprehensive look at instructing the SFST’s. In order to attend this course you must have three years LE experience and be proficient in SFST’s. This course is offered twice a year and is held in Albuquerque and Las Cruces.
SFST – Instructor Refresher
Currently all instructors are required to attend an annual one day refresher course on SFST’s to ensure they stay up to date on changes and current legal trends. This course is only offered to those that are current SFST instructors.
SFST Oversight Committee
The committee is comprised of a variety of officers from around New Mexico who have a passion for DWI enforcement and are well versed in SFST’s. The committee is overseen by co-chairpersons, one from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and the other is the current SFST Coordinator. The committee meets quarterly.
